Since the partial ease of the lockdown and the recommencement of some activities, many have been concerned about the recommencement of schools while the government still maintains that it remains shut till otherwise said. According to government, this decision is to ascertain the safety of students and teachers against the deadly corona virus, and to further ensure that things are put in place, including the interstate movement before schools can reopen.
On the other hand, the Cross River State government has decided to give a “trial resumption of schools” which shall begin on the 16th of June. This was released on Wednesday by the State Commissioner for Education, Godwin Amanke, in a statement where he states that schools will open soon, students and teachers will have to wear face masks, wash their hands and legs, sanitizers will be used too once they get to the gate. But, when in class, they will remove the face masks and make use of the face shield for the sake of ventilation.
This decision equally has the authorization of the State Governor, Ben Ayade, who has said earlier that the state has a commitment to ensure that children do not continue to stay at home and so, personal protection equipment would be produced at state-owned garment factory and distributed to students for them to go back to school because the more they stay at home, the more indiscipline they become, they more lazy they become about school, the more moral decadence and so on. So, in order not to miss the opportunity and stage of being in class, he said it is time for children to resume school, just the way China did.
What a concerned governor who has the interest of his people at heart, are you from Cross River State?
